Hi

Although it will be a while yet, I'm looking into possibly going onto CIMA after AAT. I went straight onto Tech level of AAT cos have accounts degree and have just sat 3 exams. Still have to do project and Health & Safety thingy plus sit 2 remaining exams in Dec 05. Assuming I pass everythng first time (ha ha) would this make me qualified upon receipt of the December results ?? Or do I have to get these 'MAAT' letters first (and what does that entail ?)

Any advice gratefully received :-)

    Confused about AAT 'qualified'

If you pass exams you sit in December - your results will be out in February, then yes you will be a qualified AAT technician.

After you get your technician certificate, the AAT will send you some kind of form to complete (as far as I know this is like a work experience record) which you send back to AAT. Then I think there is a short wait, not sure how long). Then you can use your MAAT letters.

Hope this helps a little

You would have to have completed one year of work experience in a relevant job to apply for Full Membership (MAAT), but this doesn't have to have been *after* you pass!

    Confused about AAT 'qualified'

    Hi

There is a similar thread on this topic, way back in the forums (do a search).

The AAT's response is that AAT qualified means having membership in addition to the NVQ level 4/Technician's certificate. As for what employers want to see, the work experience details you put on your CV is probably more important to them, since the AAT only assess a very brief description of what you have done.

CIMA, and ACCA and also ICEAW award there exmeptions based on completeing the AAT education and training scheme, so you wont have problems with gaining exemptions from them regardless of gaining MAAT or not. It seems that CIPFA only award exemptions based on having gained MAAT, but not entirely sure as I dont know that much about CIPFA.

Neil
