Technician next year - options?

I've hoping to start Technician in September (here's hoping for 'competent' exam results!), but I understand all units are not compulsary. Does any have any advice on where I can find further information regarding the content of the technician units so as I can find out which ones would be more appropriate for me. I also need to find out what my next steps would be after technician and what my options are.
Any advice given would be gratefully received!

Technician next year - options?
You have to set DFS, PEV and PCR - 2 costings and 1 financial. However there are other non complusory. If you go with PTC and BTC then you set yourself up for another 2 exams. I took PTC and Cash Management which is 1 exam and one devolved. However, if I had taken audit and cash management they would have been both devolved. In my opinion the less exams the better but it all depends on your own personal circumstances.

If you read the threads on this site then you will discover that Technician is a whole different ball game to Intermediate.0 -
Technician next year - options?
Although there are options, our particular college was only able to offer Cash Managment (Devolved)and BTC the others are compulsorary DFS/PEV/PCR plus unit 10 project. So you need to check with your college.

We studied BTC from mid Sept to the exam in late November, which was really hard going and Cash Management at the same time taking the devloved in the week after Christmas, so spent Christmas revising!

Then studied the other three from Jan to exams. Overall I suppose it was a good idea to split them, however some of our class needed to resit and so had four exams this week.

I just feel completely frazled, just hope I did enough not to have to resit any. But have been looking at the CIMA site this morning at past papers just to see what they're like, must be mad!
0 -
Technician next year - options?
It's definitely a bigger step from Intermediate to Tech than it was from Foundation to Intermediate.

The thing to consider with the options is if you want to keep going and do CIMA / ACCA / whatever, which options give you the best exemptions.

For example, because I work in practice, we were told to do the units that gave us the best exemptions for ICAEW, so we did both tax units and the audit unit - yes, one more unit than we need to be qualified!

But it's worth it because the units will be easier at Technician than they will at the higher level!0 -
Technician next year - options?
We had no choice at our College, we had to do........PEV, PCR, BTC & DFS, and we did the Cash Management Devolved.............and on top of that the Project.0 -
I'm also in the same boat as you, starting Technician in September (quietly confident).

So are the DFS, PEV and PCR units all compulsary? just so i'm clear...

Do you recommend then, that i go for the Audit and Cash Management units (presumably non-compulsary units) ? Tax is not applicable to me as i live in Gibraltar - Tax exempt woohoo. but if its gonna crop up in the CIMA or the ACCA as a compulsary i'd rather do it now than later on!

Sorry if you've already answered this question and i'm sounding thick here..

Cheers,
Ben Parody0
