What sort of Salary should I be earning?

Hi everyone,<BR>I have completed Intermediate this year, and hopefully have passed the June exam (fingers crossed), and would like to see what other people's views are on what sort of salary we should be earning for the completion of the Intermediate level? I would like some idea of if i should be asking for more money or not! Many thanks people.

    at intermediate level around Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£13k-17k. I am on about Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£17k (part time) and I have still got unit 7 to complete.<BR><BR>

    Hi the bigman<BR><BR>I am on Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£17k working part time(not pro rata salary), If I was full time it would be around Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£20K. Sounds like you got lucky as well. Thats a very good salary for intermediate, must work for a fab company.<BR><BR>

    I know how haggle. I must admit it is a good salary, especially part time. Its also about the lucky break sometimes, being at the right plane at the right time. <BR><BR>I have been looking around for other jobs but unless you head to to the city money isn't brilliant, so until I finish Tech level I won't be going anywhere for a while. <BR><BR>There are websites you can go on to find what the average salary or on the back of the AAT magazine it should give you a rough idea.<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>Carly: I work in the industry and yeah you are right accountants are very tight with the old salaries. <BR><BR><BR>

    What sort of Salary should I be earning?

    Thanks guys. I'm currently on 15k and am working just outside of a very small town so it appears I'm not doing too badly at all, however, I am full time! There is word that a pay rise is on the way though so I'll be happy with that! Thanks very much everyone, it's just nice to know that my company is keeping up with everyone else....!

    hey all,<BR><BR>i think salary is also weighted depending on where you work. bigger cities are likely to have higher basic rates (due to higher cost of living etc.).<BR><BR>for a better perspective, it's probably worth looking at charge out rate as well as salary. <BR><BR>Cheers

    Petrolmonkey<BR><BR>Hats off to ya Ò?? although Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£17k appears higher than the average salary for an Intermediate student IÒ??m amazed the you are ONLY part-time as well. Your either very efficient and competent at your job or a very good blaggerÒ?¦.i would love to know your salary once you become a qualified chartered / certified accountant. Keep me posted!!<BR>

    <BR>I am going onto Technoician level in September and i am only on Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£9,500 but i am in pracitce doing full time! Petrolmonkey, are you in practice or Industry? That seems really good money for part time work.<BR><BR>From my experience, Chartered Accountants are REALLY REALLY tight!<BR><BR>

    Do we feel then that those on very low salaries are selling themselves short? I know itÒ??s hard to command a reasonable salary when employers are trying their hardest to get labour at the lowest possible cost. <BR><BR>Also the other issue is that those with no or little experience maybe desperate to get the Ò??foot in the doorÒ??, thus accepting low salaries in order to do this. I know I have done this in my early days, I my guess is that other have done this as well.<BR><BR>The only answer is for all those on low salaries is to quickly realise their worth and move on if reasonable demands are not met - in practice even newcomer are charged out at about Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£20.00 / Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£25.00 hr (obviously depending on location).<BR><BR>

    HI TOTALLY AGREE ABOUT CHARGE OUT RATE - I KNOW OF A PRACTICE WHERE A COUPLE OF THEM HAS JUST AAT TECH QUALIFIED THEY ARE 6.50 PER HOUR..<BR><BR>FOR INCOMPLETE RECORDS AND P & LOSS AND THEIR CHARGE OUT RATE IS Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£50.00 PER HOUR<BR><BR>ON THE OTHER LIKE YOU SAID YES WE NEED TO START LOW TO GET THE EXPERIENCE BEFORE WE GO HIGHER...<BR>

    I work in industry Γƒβ€šΓ‚Β£14k with 1day off for study plus good benifits, however i applied for a job in an accountants (just fin intermediate) and the accountant had the cheek to offer 7.5k however if i was good he could "stretch" to 8k after 3 months.... NO F'in way, wouldnt even cover my bills. <BR><BR>The thing is 1 year ago when I couldnt get an accounts role due to no experience, i would have taken his offer with gratitude. Its time for them to stop taking advantage, cleaners earn atleast min wage, I think we deserve a little better for the hard work we have to put in.,,,, dont sell your self short unless the prospects are excellent....

    I think alot depends on your age. I'm 22 years old, just finnished intermediate lvl and on 16K.<BR>I think this is just above average.
