Looking back at your AAT learning, has there been a big leap in workload from Intermediate to Technician. And any theories for learning all those standards?
I'd say there's a reasonable leap from Intermediate to Technician. It's just a case of being slightly more disciplined than with Intermediate, as there are more rules/notes to remember. The standards are not as bad as people say - the AAT actually tell you which ones you need to know. Its somewhere on the website.

Ben0 -

I found Intermediate pretty straight-forward, I don't think I really used any of the books, just picked it up as I went along. I did practice the exam papers a lot though, I think that helped last year

For Technician, there was a bit of a jump, but it's a broader range of knowledge rather than revisiting Intermediate all the time. I still didn't really use the books much, apart from a week of cramming just before the exams. Again, I did the old exams papers a lot, and made sure I knew all the SSAP's and FRS's - I wrote them on the last page of the DFS exam to prove that I knew them all! I also spent a bit of time making sure I could write down any formula for performance/analysis ratio's - that was time well spent and something I would recommend

Other than that, get the project out of the way asap. I started mine in October, and messed around with it till Christmas without really getting anywhere. In the end I made some time and dedicated it to it. The report was then written in about 4 college days before being completed at work. It then took the lectuerer 6 weeks to give me feedback on it - That's why you need to get cracking on it and get it out of the way as quick as you can

Luckily, I passed all my AAT exams first time - I hope I can carry it on to CIMA now

0 -
