Sorry, I think you misunderstand me. I was going to start studying ACCA for June 2006, finish AAT in Dec (hopefully) and claim the exemptions so that next summer I can do 2.1, 2.2 & 2.3 ACCA.

I think you have misunderstood me.

You cannot claim exemptions and start Stage 2 without fully completing AAT Technician.

Scott.

I dont intend registering with ACCA until passing AAT, just ordering some texts and start studying early.

I am in the same position as you.

I failed PEV, but passed the PCR and DFS. This means you can't get full exemption from Level 1 of ACCA.
But this does not stop you from registering and starting to study for 2006 exams as I have already done.
Exemptions cost £40 per paper (3 papers at level 1). = £120

More importantly - Did you know that when you have passed Technician, you gain direct entry to CAT status!!
(Also Cat status costs £140, but if you apply for this at the same time as your Level 1 exemptions, you don't have to pay for the latter - £120)

I chose ACCA Professional Scheme because the numerical side of accounts sounded better than the management orientated CIMA (which bores the hell out of me). And because of this additional qualification.

Hope all this helps
Debbi

Incidentally, do you have any other qualifications?

I found out that my BTEC HNC in Business and Finance from years ago exempts me from Level 1 as well.

But guess what, the PEV re-sit and the Paper 2.1 exam are on the same bleeping morning!!!!
So I couldn't sit it anyway. I just can't believe it!!!

Thanks Debbie, I didn't know about the CAT status. I have a BA(Hons) degress in Business Studies & Geography. Not much finance in it though, so I don't know if it will give me any exemptions.

I spoke to a nice fella called Ross Wyper on their Glasgow office. He was very helpful about exemptions
