Hi

I am just trying to decide what units to do for my technician. I want to go on to CIMA after I have completed AAT and obviously want to get the first year exemption. I have been told that you have to have the audit unit or you don't get the CIMA foundation exemption. Does anyone know if this is correct or not?

Thanks
Rachel

    CIMA Exemption

    Hi Rachel,

No you do not need the Audit unit, I have just completed the AAT qualification (not including the audit unit) and have just been awarded exemptions from all five of the foundation CIMA papers

Hope this helps and well done

Lisa

    CIMA Exemption

I have just completed my Technician level, I did not do the auditing unit, or the credit control unit (i did personal tax and business tax instead), and I have just been granted full exemption from the first year of CIMA
So you should not have any problems.
I had heard a similar rumour, and also about ACCA exemptions, but it does not seem to be true!

Good Luck with your studies

    CIMA Exemption

Thanks for your help. Someone at college heard about a guy who completed AAT, applied to get exemption from CIMA but couldn't as he didn't have the audit option. Must have been a bit of chinese whispers going on!

Congratulations to you both for completing. Can't believe I'm about to start technician. When I started 2 years ago this point seemed like an age away, can't believe how quickly it's come round!

    CIMA Exemption

    HI
I was in exectly the same situation when I started my AAT 2 years ago. Now I am fully qualified and already got the examption from first five papers from CIMA. Although I have done Auditing as well, but it was not required for examption purpose. Good luck for your study.
