Hi guys,

I've just passed my foundation exam yippee! and going onto intermediate level. Currently I used to study two nights a week at a local college but I'm thinking of changing and thinking about other options. Has anyone done home study and can they advise me what it's like? What are the pro's and con's.

Cheers. Sonia.

    To Sonia

Hi I studied at home, the advantage is you can go at your own pace and don't have to turn out when it's wet and cold and go to College, you need to be quite disciplined and get on with it. The disadvantage is you are solo and you don't get to know anyone else on the course, so you can lose some support. Saying that this forum and the MSN forum have been great, if I have become stuck people on the forums are always extremely helpful in offering advice and tips.

I think it depends on how you want to work it, do you find learning easier in a classroom with some one explaining things to you and some interaction,or working solely from books and worksheets, mnd you I think with Premier you get a terrific lot of back up and can talk to a Lecturer just about anytime you need one.

Hope that helps

I studied foundation at college and then intermediate at home with premier, it is a bit lonesome but as long as you are willing to put the time in, its fine. I managed it with working part-time and having 2 children, (well 3 if you include the husband). I had great backup with my tutors, who i could phone when in need of help, which was often. Go for it!!! Good luck
I find it really hard.

Did unit 5 from January to June. I now have Unit 6 and 21 and 22 for December. 21 and 22 are only projects but naturally they eat into your time for Unit 6.

You have to be dedicated and motivated and make sure you do the work, of you do not you will fail.

Forums like this and the MSN one are invaluable to the lonely home study student who is struggling to understand what on earth the book is going on about!
