Unit 21 Working with Computers
Hmmm... I know of two uses of the term 'interface'. In this context I assume the most likely use is as the connection between the CPU and devices such as the hard drive and other peripherals; hence terms like SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface). Now, essentially this is an internal thing, so I can only assume what they're really talking about is the external connectors (or ports) - not sure if these are different from plugs though. The other use is as in GUI (graphical user interface) or HCI (Human Computer Interface)

I've worked with computers for the best part of 15 years and I scratched my head the first time I read aboout checks on 'interfaces'. From my experience, much of the WWC Unit seems to have been written by people who don't know much about computers, so use of such a confusing term is not surprising.

Not sure if this help, but I know a bit about computers and this confused me too.

Chris

0 -
