I guess you are doing technician???<BR><BR>Cyclical variations are when there are regular peaks and troughs that are time related. For example businesses can go through a peak and trough periods every few years which are cyclical variations.<BR><BR>Seasonal variations are the same but seasonal i.e. the bike trade would have a seasonal variation after every sunny bank holiday and at christmas (as does most retailers).<BR><BR>Extrapolate is where you have plotted sales against time, isolated the trend and then used it to predict sales information beyond the range that you have.<BR><BR>All of these expanations would be easier if I could show you a graph!<BR><BR>Annette0 -

Caroline,<BR><BR>Please review my reponse to your message:<BR><BR>1. Leading Indicator - factors that change before a new pattern begins to emerge e.g. September 11 and stock prices movements (before and after event).<BR><BR>2. Cyclical Variations - variations which come in cycles based on time - e.g. every 4-5 years, the stock market goes through this, probably due to election of a new government.<BR><BR>3. Seasonal Variations - Subject to seasons e.g. every 1st qtr., 2nd, 3rd etc. each year. Same as cyclical but over shorter period of one yeat.<BR><BR>4.
