Hi

Just a thought, have you tried sending your cv with a covering letter to various companies and / or practices in your area. You never know someone may be looking for more staff but hasn't advertised yet.

Good luck
Michelle

Don't touch Reed. They are completely useless and just put you forward for jobs they want you to have. They take no notice of what you actually ask for.

I have found that Reed are quite bad. i've been registered with them for a month now and i've had no interviews at all.
I have taken Michelle's advice and just sent my CV to companies around where i work now and hopefully something should come of that.

Thanks for the advice.

Why not send your CV to firms of accountants? They may have clients looking for someone with your skills? I did this some time ago (twice actually) and was offered a job each time. Accountants often despair at their clients' book-keeping skills, so you never know - right place etc.

Reed used to be good, but I too have been made redundant (and also from Essex, but south Essex) and went back on their books just over a month ago, and they have certainly gone downhill. Have you tried their website though, because they have jobs on there from other agencies too and that's how I've got with most agencies. Also you could put your cv on britishjobs.net and totaljobs.com as agencies will look through these and that way you can get headhunted. Also try Jwren.com they deal with Essex and London jobs. With Reed by the way, nag and nag and nag with them and you will finally start to get somewhere, phone them everyday if you have to, apply for jobs via there website and follow up with the person who's dealing with the role.

Reeds website is a pile of pants too. The vast majority of jobs on there (I'd say 90%) either don't exist or have been taken. When I was applying for jobs at the start of the year I applied for every single thing on the Reed website. Nothing happened. They just tried to get me to do temping (despite repeatedly saying I wasn't interested).

And there are still jobs on their site NOW which were there at the start of the year.......

    Dont use reed.

If you are interested in working in the city there are loads. Accountancy additions, fss, Accountancy divisions etc

If you register yourself on totaljobs.com you will get loads of phonecalls from agencies asking you to register with them. Hope that helps.
