Hey,
I started AAT in September, and had to have an operation that took me out of college, I have only just gone back.

I have been studying whilst being laid up, but haven't been able to prepare a great deal from work for my portfolio, and am struggling, I don't really understand the wording of half of it.

Can anyone help me or guide me as to what exactly I need to be collecting and collating.

Please if anyone has an idea, or anything that would help me please reply!

Zoe
mysteryukc ;-)

I wouldn't worry to much about your portfolio. I also started Intermediate at college in September and we have not yet started a portfoilo (let alone had it mentioned to us).

There seems to be alot to cover in such a short time considering that the FRA exam is the first week in December!!!

Can anybody tell me what you have to cover for the FRA exam... we have been working on Extended TB and P&L/Balance Sheets, including Calc Depreciation and Bad Debts etc.... What else do we need to cover?

Thanks

0 -

Thank you Sinders for your reply, unforunately I'm doing Unit 6 costing so I won't be able to help you on that one.

Thanks Zoe

0 -

I wonder if anyone from the AAT ever reads these forums. Maybe they'd get around to clarifying what's needed for the portfolio as there seem to be a lot of folks unsure and worrying about what they need to be doing. For most units (with the exception of Units 20, 22, 23) the majority of evidence will be your skills tests - anything not covered should be covered by extra work or oral questioning from your tutor. If you work in accounts, you can collect work based evidence but it seems to me it's still easier to do the skills tests.

[Just noticed that that should be Unit 10 not 20 up there. Ooops]

As for FRA, we've covered:
ETB
Adjustments (depreciation, bad/doubtful debts, prepayments/accruals, stock valuation)
Sole Trader Final Accounts
Partnership Final Accounts
Changes in Partnerships
Accounting concepts and reporting standards
and have yet to cover Incomplete Accounts.

I think that's about everything - say it all quickly and it doesn't seem so bad

Chris

0 -

We have got our first skills test in FA after the half term break - our tutor has been great. Are you studing at home or college?0 -

I am studing at college, the tutors I have are really good, but as I found out the other day, you aren't required to do your portfolio for these units. It makes life easier and the skills based test shorter if you do though.

Cheers

Zoe0
