I am doing my foundation level via distance learning, my tutor left halfway through and between the new tutor and my college they have decided that I live too far away and although they will mark my portfolio are not going to help me any more - rubbish I know but apparently theres nothing I can do for about this<BR><BR>I desperately need help with what to do for my portfolio for units 4, 22 and 23. They will not even give me any skills tests for units 22 and 23.<BR><BR>They have also been rather cruel and said I must complete everything in four weeks time. <BR><BR>Note to anyone reading this do not enrol with Stroud College this is how they treat students who pay a lot of money for their courses!!!!<BR><BR>Please Help<BR>

How can you live too far away for distance learning?<BR><BR>Sorry I can't help with the evidence you require but I would report this college to the AAT - they appear to be shirking their responsibilities. Also if you paid for the course by credit card ask the CC company for a refund as the college are not supplying the service they advertised. Failing that you may be able to claim compensation through the small claims court.<BR><BR>I've just started the foundation course myself (completed unit 21 - exam in June 06) and I'm sure others can help further but I would definately start with the AAT.<BR><BR>Craig0 -

I would certainly approach the AAT over this. You should also try and find out the terms of the contract you had with the college, after all when they took your money it was for the full course. It might also by useful to have a chat with your local Citizens Advice Bureau, they might be able to help you with your legal rights here. I'm astounded that the college feels it can treat you this way and if I were you I'd kick up as much of a stink as you can.<BR><BR>By the way, there are no skills tests for Units 22 and 23, they both require work based evidence. Contacting the AAT was my first point of call and basically they told me that it was all at the discretion of my college. At that point I went absolutely mad at Stroud as I had sat and passed my exams completed my simulations for units 1-4 and they were telling me that I wuld have to find another college to complete my course.<BR><BR>They said I should never of been given a place as I lived in Essex which is rubbish with distance learning is exactly that. Luckily enough I am now going to do my intermediate with nec, although a bit dearer it seems a better college.<BR><BR>I complained again last night to my college and they have now said that if I want to make a four hour train journey to the college they will help me!!!!!!!!!!<BR><BR>Shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!<BR><BR>Thanks for your help anyway<BR><BR>What did you use for evidence for unit 40 -

Whether they <i>should</i> have taken you on or not seems irrelevant the fact is that they <i>did</i> take you on and that implies that you had some sort of contract with them. Would be worth investigating to see if there is any breach of contract here. This sort of thing makes me so angry, there must be some way of holding these people to account. <BR><BR>Anyway, for me Unit 4 evidence was a (ridiculously easy) skills test and some supplementary exercises set by our tutor.
