Hi all,

I'm a newish member to this site and im basically looking to pick your brains.

I'm sitting the DFS exam in December, but i havent actually been to college and done the course.

Work has been too busy to allow me to go, so ive decided to try and study on my own at home.

I pick things up fairly quickly i guess and have done all the other AAT exams except for this one. What im wondering is do you think its possible for me to pass this exam?

I've been reading through the book, doing examples etc but havent got to the end yet.

Do i have time before december to learn all this stuff?

I'm feeling quite worried at the mo and really want to know (honestly) if its possible, and if so, how much time do you think id need to spend per week studying.

id be really grateful for some advice, thanks.

    Hi

I spoke to someone last week and I was told that if you dont pass in December you will not be able to write in June as they have changed from FRS & SSAP to IAS.

So if you can do the past papers and you feel that you can do it go for it. June 2005 was the worst paper in years, try and do that one.

It will also be good for you to do a revision lesson with someone i know Sandy Wood does them and there is a lady in Ketering whom is also doing one.

Good luck

How true is this? Surely if you learn all the FRS's & SSAP's then its just a case of adding the IAS?

Regards

Dean

    Hi

It is probably the worst unit I have done so far, but it is possible. Do as many examples and questions as possible and I agree with stefsai, June was horrendous so if you can crack that one you should be fine. Remember to learn the FRS and SSAP by heart - it is worth it.

Best of luck

I'm kinda in the same boat. I put in for the exams online last week during an adventurous train of thought! I haven't studied anything thus far. I'm going to be doing PEV & PCR, I'm slightly worried but I'm reasonably confident I can study the 200 - 300 page book in 4 weeks! I will have to work most days on it though.

As you've stated you're a quick learner so you probably will be able to do it if you knuckle down!

Good luck.
