Calling anyone who sat PCR in June 04

Firstly, I feel sorry for you ! I've just done the exam in practise situation. Had I sat the real thing in June I think I'd have walked out in a panic !

Why is it about a million times harder than the Dec 04 exam ??

Can I expect the same in Dec 05 ??

Any comments/thoughts appreciated.

    I think we should expect the exams to remain and the same level as June '05 exam, all three technician exams were a lot harder than expected so I don't think it was a one off.

    I was told that standard of students going onto do CIMA and ACA etc is not high enough so the exam need to be harder.

    Not happy about it though - I failed DFS.

    I teach ECR at Intermediate and both PEV and PCR at Technician

    I have an impression that the examiners have been asked to make sure the exams are testing candidates knowledge and understanding of the subject.
    This means that the papers have become more unique than a few years ago. This is good for well prepared students. It means that you will be using your knowledge to respond to questions you will be given.
    What it also means is that anyone hoping to go into an exam with a head full of rote learning is going to find things quite difficult.

    It is rare for examiners to give you irrelevant information, so do read those paragraphs introducing the business. The information is likely to be useful in the written tasks that many students dislike so much.

    I think that a few years ago people could pass some of the exams by looking at the previous papers and replicating the techniques. I don't think that those people would necessarily be good ambassadors of the AAT qualification. At least now an employer knows that AAT is a rigorous qualification and if you have passed, he or she will know you are someone worth employing.
    So look on the exam papers as a way of proving to the world how good you are.
