Firstly, I feel sorry for you ! I've just done the exam in practise situation. Had I sat the real thing in June I think I'd have walked out in a panic !

Why is it about a million times harder than the Dec 04 exam ??

Can I expect the same in Dec 05 ??

Any comments/thoughts appreciated.

Oh God now I am really scared, I did the past paper from June 2005 last Thursday and was desparate for this one to be similar, I did sit the December 2004 paper and walked out after 1 hour as just couldn't get it........didn't have the courage to sit it in June and now so wish I had. Anyone got any thoughts on December paper?

    Hi,

I wrote this paper, it was much easier than the Dec 04 paper. I got confused in Section 1 where I calculated the Materials budget than had to revise the budget and calculate the closing stock and shortfall and surplus, I used a lot of correction fluid and on a green paper was not preety, I must have dis-pleased the marker because I failed this paper in Dec 04, because I wrote something then tipexed than went back and wrote again and tipexed again. When I resat in June 05 I thought it through first then started to write, and when I had to do the workings for cost of sales and made a mistake I just put a line through and started on a different place to do the workings. Afterall a lot of paper is provided in the aswer booklet and there aren't many questions, just a lot of thought has to go into it, because you are consolidating your knowledge at Technician gained at all the levels of AAT. Many people did not put the opening stock in the operating statement, because were stuck and did not use the knowledge gained in finance papers in the costing paper.

I also got stuck slightly on the Sampling as I didn't study this, what I remembered from glancing through it was that systematic sampling was not the best method even though the name suggests this. I chose the strastified method as you are making the effort to choose people from different groups so not just random number of people like other sampling mentods.

Also they will always ask you to prepare production budget, flexible budget, sales forecasting, marginal & absorption costing, behavioural aspects (mortivation staff & managers), sometimes trends on products like boom, saturation, and decline periods, moving averages is asked in PEV mostly but can be asked in PCR too. I think these two have to be sat together as you can read them together in the textbook and practise is similar. But PEV and DFS are a little similar too, Section two Ratio Analysis and profitability rations. Lucky you don't have ratio's in PCR.

I liked the ratio's myself, hated the revising budgets because you work your way backwards, which I found confusing, thank god this is over, however I am writing ACCA 2.4 next June 06, and I have heard it's got PEV, PCR and DFS in it, as Financial Standards are assessed in the one unit, I will start reading from now, as I am sitting 4 in June 06.

    Regards,

    Nafisa

I agree I walked out of December 2004 PCR paper but I did the June 2005 paper easily the other night, I thought the June 2005 paper was pretty easy hope to get something just like it in December 2005.

    Hi

I also sat this in June 05 and found it a breeze especially when compared to the practice ones I had done just before the exams.

Im sitting PCR next week too. The June 05 paper was the first one by a new examiner who also wrote the paper we will be sitting next week, great! He has since been sacked but wrote the paper prior to this, but out tutor thinks it could be possible that the paper would have been reviewed.

Good luck, think we all need it!!
