Hi everyone,
Just wondering what you all thought of the PEV paper this morning? I thought the latter parts of section 1 were rather horrible, but overall found the paper ok compared to other past papers.
Hope everyone feels a bit more relaxed now, we can breathe a half sigh of relief until the PCR paper!!!

Re:PEV Exam
I struggled too with the last part of section one.
Was the answer a 5% decrease? With the a variance of £11,700?0 -
Re:PEV Exam
Yes, it was a 5% decrease. I can't remeber the exact split of the £6,500 (F) variance but I think the $ rate accountede for aboput half of it. Overall, I think the paper was a gift. But what the hell did Ads Ltd have to do with benchmarking?0 -

Re:PEV Exam
Yes, it was a 5% decrease and the total variance was £6500.--. F. Half of it accounted for the exchange rate variance and the other £3250.-- F was for other reaons. I am very glad to see that you have the same as this was the only part that took me a bit of time to work out. Otherwise I thought the paper was a quite easy.0 -
Re:PEV Exam
It seems AAT is changing the content of the papers because no amount of revision could have left me purely happy with PEV.
It was a hard paper ! No doubt.
How did you guys write the memo on the Perfomance of the Purchasing manager.
Task 1.3 took me by surprise . Indices.
Hope we are competent.0 -

Re:PEV Exam
Hi everyone
I got 4.76% for the decrease, hope you lot were rounding up. Did get the variance of £6500 tho.
Paper much harder than I thought it would be.
Fingers crossed now

Re:PEV Exam
Oh am I glad I wasn't the only one thinking that part 1 was a bit hard. Part two was not to difficult. The worse thing is the long wait for the result.
Anyway can't change anything now.0 -
Re:PEV Exam
I knew I had the end of the first section wrong. The question said 'decrease' and I dont know what I did but I kept ending up with a 5% increase : ( think I was panicking a bit too much. Yes I had a 6500 (F) variance though.
Couldnt balance the rec. Section 1 was a NIGHTMARE.
Seemed to sail through section 2 though. Just hope I did enough. Only time will tell!!!0 -
Re:PEV Exam
I got a 4.76% decrease too. I think it depends on the rounding.
I said the variance due to exchange rate changes should be excluded from the Purchasing Managers perfomance as it was not under his control. The remaining favourable variance was under his control and should his department in a good light.
Did people spot the reconcilliation on 1.1 was just for fixed overheads?0 -
Re:PEV Exam
It seems perfectly alright for me on both sections. Apart from Task1.3 I have made wrong calculation.
Split in Material price variance is£58,500 - £61,425 = £2,925 (f) due to exchange rate and £61,425 - £65,000 = £3,575 (f) due to other factors, so the original Material price variance of £6,500 (F) (58,500 - £65,000)
Section 2 was like a peeled banana. I hope every one did well on both. We will wait and see in February 2006 when the result been published.
Cheers !!!
For me, the exam is over!!! Good luck to every one who will sitting other exams.

PS: I have got the £61,425 using $110,565 / $1.800 -

Re:PEV Exam
Balancing of Fixed Overhead incurred and Fixed overhead absorbed is as follows:
Standard FOH for Actual Production 6000 x £12 £72,000
Variances Favourable Adverse
Expenditure Variance £2,800
Volume Variance -£4,800 -£2,000
Actual FOH for Actual Production £70,000
I can't get it right, so the above was the reconciliation of FOH for Task 1.1C
Cheers !!!

Re:PEV Exam
No, its not a 5% decrease.
GBP has in an increase of 5% which means USD has a 4.76% decrease relatively.
I got 6500F for material price variance.
3095F and 3405F from exchange rate and supplier price, cant remember which way round, but it adds up

I got the same answer as above.
Equally I can see no flaw in Ahsadaks reasoning.
So who is correct?????0 -

Re:PEV Exam
Task 1.3
(a i) July $1.80 = £1.00 so $1.00 = £0.556
November $1.89 = £1.00 so $1.00 = $0.529
Over the period there was a decrease in the GBP buying power of the dollar of £0.026
As a percentage of the value in July (£0.556) this is a 4.762% decrease0 -
Re:PEV Exam

All the best to you All!0 -
