Hi,

Sage are promoting version 12 as support for charities, by providing fund management facilities, charity-specific financial reports and chart of accounts just for charities.

Has anyone bought this upgrade to use for charities ? Are these facilities for charities as good as Sage claim?

I would welcome members' comments.

Chris

    Hi,

We are using Sage at work for a number of different client types - I would say get - it considerably better and easier to use than other packages on the market.

In addition V12 has been made more user friendly than previous versions and has a very modular approach.

Having said that if your charity is particularly complicated i.e with lots of restricted/reserved funds it will take a while to set up. But once you are up and running it should be as easy as pie - plus it will save you the hassle of having to split income/expenditure on a manual system. The most important thing to do if you do go computerised is to make sure your opening balances are correct and run both computer and manual system paralell until you are happy with the computer system.

The best advice you could get is from your accountant/auditor if you have one who would be able to advise what is best for your situation.
