Hi there,
I am currently doing DL and trying to catch up a little before i go back to work. Please can someone help me with a Simulation?
I am on Unit 4 - Supplying Information for Management control and am stumped at task 3, and it's probably really easy!!
Can you tell me how to work out the variance %?

Hi Sam,
Have you managed to get help on this question? I sat that one back in November, so if not let me know and I'll help.

Re:Hi am new and need help please?!?
hi,
you take the budgeted figure minus that actual figure gives you the overall difference. the variance is the difference (either positive or negative) but you have to put whether the difference is favourable or adverse (good or bad), i.e.. figures increasing for sales is favourable - good for business. Stock being more than budgeted is adverse (bad for business)
Hope that helps a bit!0 -
Re:Hi am new and need help please?!?
Hi, I sat this in December so I can still remember! Might be too late now though! You work out the difference between the budgeted and actual figures, then you divide the difference by the budgeted figure and multiply by 100
eg.
Expenses
Actual = 12672.84
Budget = 11202.67
Difference = 1470.17
so percentage variance = 1470.17/11202.67*100 = 13.1%ADV
Hope it helps
