Is there anyone out there who is due to take paper 2.1 & 2.2 in June - but hasn't even looked at it yet!!
I know I'm terrible, but I took PEV resit in December, and don't think I can concentrate on ACCA until I know I've passed it ok.
I am in need of moral support/penpal/study buddy/motivation.
I have registered with BPP on the internet courses, and have just read some terrible reviews on the general forum which made me feel even worse.
Any replies will be greatly appreciated.
Good luck in all your studies

    Hi Debbie

I am awaiting confirmation from ACCA to say that I am accepted for June exams. I cant enrol until I know this. Once I get confirmation I will be enrolling with FTC to start in Mar for June exams.

So I havent looked at anything yet either.
    Has anyone else??

    Hello Geraldine

    Thanks for replying.
I was able to enrol early because I got a HNC a few years ago. I was with FTC for AAT Intermediate, but didn't really get any support, so I thought I would try BPP this time.

I start ACCA next week for exams in June (2.1, 2.2 and 2.3). I completed AAT last June but couldn't start ACCA till now cause of work (my colleague was sitting her ACCA finals in Dec and we couldn't both be off at the same time). I will be studying with FTC (tuition actually starts in March but the FTC run early start tuition in Jan (first day of each unit so get books early)).

Debbie - I didn't know you could start part 2 ACCA unless you'd applied for your exemptions from Part 1?

I've heard FTC is better that BPP so that's why I've gone with them. Alot of people at my office have studied with BPP and found that the tuition isn't as good - worse notes, etc.

I wouldn't mind having an email buddy for help and support when needed - my email is in profile.

    Hello Helen

I got the level one exemptions because I have a HNC, otherwise I would have had to wait for the result of my resit.

I am worried about studying at my own pace, but there are only 2 places in Liverpool to study ACCA - BPP and FTC - and they are both in the middle of town, so its a nightmare to park, and too expensive.

I'll just have to get stuck in, and try my best.

Don't worry about studying at your own pace - you get 10 yrs (plus when they change the syllabus in 2007 they add another 10 years onto that - I think).

I can only do one sitting per year as my team is very small and to have me off twice a year is not allowed (and unfair). So I'll be doing 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 this June then the rest of part 2 next year. I'd prefer to do two sittings a year as if you have too much of a break you get out of the swing of things.

My work is paying for it, so it adds to the burden quite a bit.
They usually give me 50/50 study leaveand some of my holidays to revise.

There is only myself and the accountant here, but I try to deal with any urgent stuff before I go, so there isn't much that can't wait.

I don't think that's very fair of your place though. Won't they let you do 2 and 2, or 2 and 1, to break it up a little. I believe these are much harder than AAT exams!!

My work is paying for mine too. I'll get study leave to attend the mid week tuition, mid week revision, question based revision at the FTC plus an extra days study before the exams - about 30 days in all.

I'll have to get all of my cases up to date and get the clients to speak to my colleagues if anything urgent crops up while I'm out but I'll probably pop into the office after college anyway as it's only down the road.

There is no way I'd be allowed to sit exams twice a year even if I were to do 2 and 1 so I'll just do the 3 (even though it's exactly the same amount of time off).

Work grant study leave and pay for the first sitting of exams. If you fail they only let you have the resit exam day off and you have to revise by taking holiday and they won't pay for revision courses. I've cheated the system and bit (they haven't noticed yet) by getting work to pay for the package which included a free revision course if you don't pass so I'd just take holiday if worst comes to worst.

They are much harder that AAT but I reckon if I study hard I'll be fine. I had first time passes all through AAT and the most I sat at once was four.

    Re:ACCA penpal/study buddy pls

    Hi All,

I am taking 2.1 in June providing I have passed DFS. I too am studying on my own as I can't get to a college in my area on the day they run the course and my husband works shifts so evening classes are out too. I am studying with FTC as I heard they are better than some of the others. I have completed the first progress test but I wouldn't have do so if I had not taken time off over xmas. I only posted it last week so don't know how I have done yet. I am finding it hard to find time especially when hubby is on late shift as I can only study when kids are in bed. I don't plan on taking 2.2 and 2.3 until December, it will be too much if I haven't passed DFS as I will have to retake again in June and put back 2.1 until December.
    Regards

    Hi all
Just butting in on your conversation. I have just sat 2.4 (did AAT and did 2.1 last Dec and 2.2 and 2.3 last June). Have you tried http://www.accountancystudents.co.uk/forums/profile.php?mode=register&ruid=25as they cover ACCA more thoroughly. Come and join me there.

I would have sat 2.1 in December - but it was the same day and time as my PEV resit. How ridiculous is that!!

    To Geraldine, Helen and BlueWednesday

I will keep checking here and also on AccountancyStudents website. There does seem to be a lot more on there, and a lot more in depth.

See you on the other side!!

    Hi All

    Thanks.
Hey I'm sitting my exams in Birmingham too and hopefully going to go on some of the revision courses they offer. I don't suppose if anyone knows if the dates for these have been published yet??

    Thanks
