Hi there,
I was just curious, whether it's possible to manage at least foundation level just as a home study, without any school ot distance learning. Just with textbooks and workbooks. Any experience? Thank you for any response,

    Hi I am doing homestudy Foundation at the minute. Learning from books is hardgoing, but for Foundation I think is OK. Make sure you have someone that you can email for questions from your course and if you regularly use this site to ask questions, chat to other students or print answers then I'm sure you'll be fine!

    I think (correct if wrong) you are asking can you do the foundation course with out a AAC. (college, school, home study provider)

    The answer is NO!

    You need someone to mark your assesments / skills tests / work based evidence.

    ~The teaching yourself is very possible - its the reporting to AAT that you need an approved centre for!

    For Technician its a whole different story - I beleive you can do the exam based unit on your own - and pay provider to mark your skills tests for the skill tests units.

    Let me know if this makes sense - All in all you need someone to report your progress to the AAT to gain the foundation qualification.

    Hi Ricky!

    I don't know that much about the diploma pathway to be honest, but I am under the impression that the diploma way is just skills tests instead of a combination of those and portfolio evidence? Plus you still do the central exams?

    You will need to be registered as a student with AAT and with an AAC as someone will need to mark your skills test - AAT do not mark these, they only mark the central exams.

    The diploma is very new so I don't think many people will know for certain on the forums to be honest, so your best bet is to ring the AAT and ask them!

    I study through A+ as an NVQ. Yes you do need someone to mark you assignments and papers - these can be emailed or posted. You don't have to go to college or lessons.
