Getting the Technician qualification

Hi
I have chosen the auditing and cash managment etc options rather than tax exams for my technician year. However I was planning on spending this year concentrating on PEV,PCR and DFS core exams then doing the other bits from Jan 2007 as I am getting married this year too and don't want to go into nuclear melt down.
What I wanted to know was can I get my technician year without having done the other bits?? I can't remember. I would like the certificate as soon as I can have it but are not sure if the I need the skills tests first or if core exams are enough?? Mind you by the time I wait for results I will probably have done it all anyway hopefully.
I really need a kick up the bum to get on with PEV etc work as I have concentrated on my project so much I have barely done two chapters. How is everyone else getting on with projects and work?? :?

Re:Getting the Technician qualification
As I understand it, to get the technician qualification there are four core topics that have to be passed, then out of four options, you have to pass two.
PEV, PCR, DFS and the project for unit 10 are compulsory. CMCC, Auditing, PTC and BTC are the options for the other two.
My college does CMCC and auditing as part of the course and the PTC & BTC as extra options. I'm therefore doing all 8 this year. Although must admit that some of us are pondering deferring DFS due to the new format and no past papers to practise with.0 -
Re:Getting the Technician qualification
Hi
I wasn't aware of the changes you mentioned but have just looked around the site and on the students section there is a link to guidance and a specimen paper involving the updates which will be assessed from June 2006 onwards (mini panic over)for DFS. I am doing my DFS in December so hopefully with the specimen and June paper to practice it will be ok.
Thanks for your help, 8)0 -
Re:Getting the Technician qualification
Hi
I completed the Technician level last year, I chose cash management and auditing, just to get my technician level.
I re-enrolled last Sept 05 for just personal tax and business tax.
Hope this helps.0 -
Re:Getting the Technician qualification
Thanks Mia, that is probably what I intend to do. I don't use tax much in my job at the moment so I may add it on later when life is less hectic.
