How difficult

Hi,

I am currently doing my Payroll qualification, but once I am finished this hopefully later tihs year) I am wanting to do my Intermediate as I have already completed my Foundation (last year) but I am wondering how much more difficult it is compared to Foundation??

    In my humble opinion, quite a step up but nothing to drastic.

    People were finding the introduction of cost accounting hardest when I did it (when I were a lad) but im not sure if that is still the case.

    I didn't find it too bad, but then Unit 5 really follows on from Foundation. If you're OK with double entry bookkeeping then you should be fine, if not you're going to struggle.

    I've only just started costing so can't really comment. It doesn't, though, seem to have a whole lot of connection with what I did last year, so I don't think having not done Foundation would be much of a disadvantage for that unit.

    Initially I found Imtermediate a hugh step up from Foundation. The double entry part is as Foundation except you move onto Extended Trial Balances. We are now working on Partnership Agreements and their accounts which apparently forms part of the Devolved Assessments and the External Exam.

    We have now moved onto Costing i.e. overheads etc and its getting interesting now.

    So I would say go for it as I am sure all our hard work will be worth it in the end

    I can't comment on the Foundation (had exemptions!) but I thought the Intermediate was ok. I passed all my exams first time, you just need to be able to put the studytime in each week as regular as clock-work! I have heard numerous people say from my class last year that there is a surprising difference from the Foundation level. I'm on the Technician level now with the new European Standards....now that (I feel) is a challenge!

    I agree - unit 5 just really carries on from foundation, the first few chapters (in the BPP books) are revision of double entry.

    I found costing a little difficult, but once you get your head round it and remember all the forumlas - it's not so bad!

    Just study, study, study - work hard and keep asking questions about things you don't understand! You'll get there and the hard work will all be worth it in the end!
