What should I do...Personal Tax or Auditing?

Can anybody offer me any advice on what would possibly be the easiest option to take? I don't want to let the other areas suffer during the course and I know I've got to hurry up and make up my mind -somebody please help!!!???

    It depends on what your strengths and weaknesses are.
    I'm being forced to do both as the college muffed up unit 8 and 9 (taught us both before December, but we only did unit 9 exam!).
    Whilst we are waiting for June, we are doing Auditing up until Easter. It is very dull and full of waffle. It is simulation based only, but it is all writing, no calculations.
    Tax is much more interesting to me as I love working with figures. I have been waiting for tax since Foundation! We started both taxes a few weeks ago and staying with it up to the exam. It is obviously almost all figures based (the complete opposite of Auditing).
    So, Auditing would be easier in terms of learning time but tax is easier if you don't like writing based assesments (if you see what I mean).
    Decide which you like more (figures or writing) and choose that way.

    Thank you for your advice, I class myself as more of a 'writer' so I think the Auditing option probably is a must. :D

    am doing both, completed Audit before xmas and I have to say that I thought the skills test was quite straight forward lots of writing but a lot of it was pointing out the obvious and was quite easy. Though am enjoying Tax more as I prefer numbers.

    i would advise you to look at whether you will be inclined to do an audit in the future as part of your job. If you work for an accounts practice i would advise personal tax as you will be required to handle these more.

    Having just sat the auditing assesment I can say that I didn't find it hard and it did help a bit with my management project. It is however a bit on the dull side and probably less relevent to my job than personal tax is. I do think you can achieve a result in auditing with minimal work once you've worked out how to "think like an auditor" It's a 4 hour devolved assesment - 100% written which can be a bit tough if your not used to it. I've just started personal tax and it is nice to be able to plug nos into a calculator again!
