Hi,

New to this and thought I'd leave a msge!

Feeling stressed at mo, distance learning with FTC and have read up to Security on Unit 31 and done the first practice simulation, but feel so far behind as they were over a month late sending out all the coursework and still keep sending things (like Sage software) when I read through that section last week!!!

Is everyone else further on and I'm just lagging behind?

    Finally, another Diploma student!! Nice to Meet you Nicky!!

    I'm doing the Diploma too, also with FTC.

    Ive done this simulation already. To be honest, I wouldn't bother too much about the SAGE part, it is really straightforward once you get the simulation. I had a booklet explaining what I needed to do. The simulation tasks are so easy to do on SAGE with the booklet.

    The other parts are easy too. No mega super computer skills are required!!

    What part are you up to at the moment? How are you finding it?

    Hiiiiiii, I'm doing Yr1 with FTC also. Only just started and concentrating on Chapter 30 up to the June exams then doing Chapter 31 for Sims in September and October. Just wanted to stop and say HI!!!!! :D

    Hiya Nic,

    The Diploma pathway covers all the same elements I think but in a different format and you don't have to keep a portfolio.
    Split into 2 units - one with an exam and the other is a simulation you can do at work or at college etc.
    If you don't work in accounts for example, it may be better to follow this route as you don't need the portfolio of evidence.

    It's finally good to see other people doing the diploma aswell,i'm always checking on the discussion board to see if theres anyone else doing the same, me studying with ftc too, I just received sage software last week aswell, i'm just about to start the practice sim, hoping not too difficult, here goes..

    anyone done unit 31, the practice simulation from ftc, just done the tasks on sage but not sure about how to enter in the credit notes? Is it under the invoicing section and then new, credit?

    Purchases - click on suppliers, click reports, click day books and select supplier credits. For Sales do the same but under customers.

    I just wanted to let you no that you aren't the only one feeling stressed. I started Unit 31 just before Christmas and feel like i am getting nowhere fast and feel like i'm getting older quicker than i should. :?

    Hiya Kazzer - sure we'll all be ok in the long run. Had a word with one of the administrators at FTC who advised if I was feeling behind to stop unit 31 and start unit 30 so I will be prepared for the June exam.
    Then afterwards I can continue back with unit 31.
    This has made sense to me andI'm finding Unit 30 would have helped me more with unit 31 - we're obviously doing it backwards :shock: . Seems like they are trying to make it more difficult sometimes!
    Its finally clicking now with me and I've breezed through the first 2 chapters in no time.

    Hi

    This is the first time ive logged on so thought id leave a message. Im studying at home with FTC and was feeling a bit lonely. Just finished Unit 31 and sent my practice simulation off today.

    Can I ask how many hours people spend studying a week? I work full time and travel for 3hrs a day, I study as much as I can but not sure if it is enough.

    Ive had a look at Unit 30 and am already confused by credits and debits!!

    Hi Lottie!!

    Sounds like your just about on schedule!

    Left Unit 31 last week to concentrate on Unit 30 as felt getting too far behind.

    Have planned out my work much better on this Unit and know if I read 3 chapters a week I'll be on target for the first Progress Test 20/2. Will then see what time I've got till the 2nd progress test and work that one out.

    Works much better to break it down into chapters I think - little goals to achieve instead of being struck dumb by big picture :)

    For the debit/credit procedure - have a look at some of the other Diploma postings on the website. Helped me a lot. All begins to make sense after a while, I promise you.

    Thanks, cant tell you how good it feels knowing im not on my own!!

    Excellent tip about 3 chapters a week as i do tend to get nervous about how much work there is to cover.

    Do you mind if i ask another question.

    Have you done any reading part from the work books FTC has sent through?

    No I haven't done any extra reading. None is required as everything you need to learn for the exam/simulation is in the FTC text books.

    You can get bogged down reading other texts that may explain things differently and make it even more confusing :?

    I did the Unit 30 exam in December. Waiting for results on the 15th Feb. :?

    If u have any probs with debits and credits n stuff, let me know and i will help if i can.

    I am doing the Unit 31 sim shortly.

    Hiya Nicky

    Really glad to hear that things are finally clicking :thumbup: hope you can keep it up. I'm less stressed and more chilled as i am sending my AWS progress test off at the end of the month so watch this space. Just wish the kids would leave me in peace to concentrate.
