I'm now AAT qualified and a full member, I work full time but could do with some extra cash, so was thinking of doing some book keeping or sorts evenings and weekends but I don't know where to start in finding work or what I need to do?

    Hi

You could try advertising locally in shop windows, post office church magazines etc. These are usually cheaper than advertising in your local newspaper and could well attract small businesses. Also try approaching local practices for sub contract work.
I put an ad on sons school notice board and attracted a few clients that way, the rest was word of mouth and being in the right place at the right time.
I also subcontract to an accountant.

Don't forget you will need to register as self employed and you will also need PI cover.

    Hope this helps

    Good Luck

    Hi Tracy,

Yes you do need to apply to become a member in practice.

I am not an MIP yet as I am waiting to get my final exam result. I still work on a self employed basis but I do not refer to AAT at all to any of my clients.

Sorry forgot this on previous post.

    Regards
