I have just started to be the treasurer of my local squash club and at present our accounts are done through the Leisure complex. We want to change and have our own bank account but I am unsure how clubs are governed i.e tax, either income or vat, do we have to register?
Can anyone help please with some information.

Re:sport clubs
Small clubs and charities are usually don't have to pay tax, become registered for VAT or be audited but there are limits and it also depends on the structure of the club and inevitably the turnover.
I would suggest the best bet would be to check out the charity commission website and the dreaded HMRC for up to date info.0 -
Re:sport clubs
There are some new rules coming in for charities and clubs (it was mentioned in passing by our Auditor) but I haven't found anything specific on it yet. It may be worth you checking out some training companies for update courses.0
