MAS Unit 10 Project - Help?!

Please can anyone tell me how many words you are allowed to write in each section of the project?

I think that the project has to be itself a total of 3000 - 4000, but does it matter how many words are in each of the sections or not does anyone know?

Im getting confussed!! x :roll:

    Hi Silver.

    Your project has to be between 3,000 and 5,000 words, excluding appendices.

    It doesn't matter how you spread the words, as long as your project is readable and 'report like' - you don't want a 2,000 word introduction!

    P.S. Word has a word count feature which will tell you how many words you have used.

    Have you printed off all the guidance notes/templates, etc, off this site?

    Hi

    Glad you have said 5,000 words as I had read 4,000 limit somewhere and was panicking as mine is over 3,000 and I still have the implementation, review etc sections to do!!!

    I've not even waffled or anything which is most unlike me - are we allowed a certain percentage above word limit or is it dead strict?

    Hi Tori and Silver.

    I've just checked the guidance notes for Unit 10 - it now says your project should be 4,000 words, with no mention of leeway!

    Perhaps you should check with your tutor or ring student services.

    You don't start the word count until section 4. Also, you can "bung" quite a few bits in the appendices. Eg, when showing proof of supervisory procedures, I put in implementation,
    " had meeting with staff. See Appendix ?"
    rather than typing in the procedure

    I completed my at 3998 words (after a lot of editing :shock: :D )

    The word count is only a guide. My tutor said he would take a project of only 2500 words as long as it meets all the performance criteria.

    The number of words can vary as no-one actually counts them! A guide of 4000 is given to make sure people write more than 1000 and less than 15000.

    I managed to get away with my project being 5600 words. It depends how strict your college want to be on this I think. I know my college didn't want to do any written questioning at all. Previously when I did my NVQ in administration, you could do a project, but any areas where you have not met a performance criteria, range statement or knowledge and understanding the assessor would ask me, how possibly I could do this.

    With my MSP project there is a performance criteria about communicating with accountancy people your ideas and so on, because I was doing this on a case study (CastonBridge Hotels) I thought at first it would be difficult and thought I would have to lie that i sent out questionniares, and received feedback from colleagues in an accounting environment. I eventually managed to cover this by saying that the report was actually going to be reported to the Senior Management Team (Directors), and that I consulted with the Financial Director and Chairman about some employement law issues. After reading the Case Study a few times, I noted towards the end that these two colleagues passed to me (role play name of Rosemary Wright) an ariticle about employment regulation etc. So it's all about going through things really slowly and look for the particular Performance Criteria in the Case Study and expand on it.

    I was told 4000 +- 10% but after I had gone through the iterative process my project is now well over 6000 without the appendices (I kid you not).
    It has been signed off by the college and gone off to AAT too.
    I can only agree with Gaffarn and assume it is down to your tutor and college - unless of course AAT kick it out when it gets to them in which case I will be more than little miffed.
