Can anyone please help with one bit of apportionment that I am stuck on.
FTC practice skills test Task 4 have totalled all the wages inc overtime.for week 42 but then there is a bonus of £75 to be split between them
total gross wages for the 4 employees is £1118.00
This £75 is to be apportioned. in the answer the apportioned £75 pro rata is made up of, £51.90, £22.81, 20.39 and £15.90 The weekly wage exc bonus for each employee is 1)£237, 2)£340, 3)£304, 4)£237
I have tryed 75.00/1118 = 0.07 and then 237 x 0.07 but that comes to £16.59 not 15.90 how do they get £15.90??

I would be grateful if someone could help so that I can move on
Thanks
CB

I think yo can try it this way, take the bonus of £75.00 divide by 1118.00 and multiply by 237 gives you 15.90.

Re:Can anyone help with apportionment figure?

Thanks so much, if I had continued and multiplyed the figures straight away I would have got that answer, but usually the figures are rounded up to 2 decimal places 0.07 and not 0.067084 if the answer was not printed how would I know how the answer was reached as I would have just done 237 x 0.07, would this have been incorrect?
Are you working with the FTC books? I find they go into too much detail over everything and then I get confused, Osbourne books seem to just teach what you need to know for exams.

    Thanks again CB

No I am not working with FTC books,I used Osbourne books for my ECR & FRA exams I did in Dec05 just waiting for the results now fingers crossed. I found Osbourne books user friendly.

I would not expect that sort of question to appear in either the skills test or the exam for ECR

This question is based on an old RCI simulation

This question is in the New Standard FTC books in their practice simulations, so I'm guessing it will come up in the latest simulation

    You know my view

I would be very surprised indeed.

It is up to you if you want to take my word for it.

He's also a respected tutor who gives a lot of help in this forum. He wouldn't say it unless he really believed it.

So why do we waste time studying stuff like this if it is not going to come up in Exam or simulation? I rekon you could cut studying time down by half if you only studied for stuff that was in the exam and Sim. But how do we know what is going to come up?

One of the disadvantages of attending classes is the time commitment that is needed. This might be impossible in your busy life and with responsibilities at work
But the other side of the coin that I think my students benefit from is in the interpretation of the syllabus. I have 2 ECR classes at Chichester College and I run a number of Revision Day classes up and down the country. It is my professional duty to make sure I understand the syllabus inside out AND to have a clear idea in my own head of what is likely (and what could possibly) be tested in both the skills test and the exam.
I am sure very many other lecturers do exactly the same.
Either have a word with your own lecturer or distance learning support tutor and see what he or she can do to help, or pop an email to me and let me know where you are located and I'll see if I can hold a revision day nearby.
