hi yaa
I'm just wondering what would be the relevant work experience that we need to go along with the aat course. What kind of positions should i be looking for? and what kind of tasks should we be carrying out within these positions for it to count as the work experience that we need.
would appreciate any help

Re:relevant work experience
Hi
I suppose it really depends what you want at the end. If you want to be an Accountant the best position to look for would be Trainee Accounting Technician or something similar. Thats what I was looking for when I was searching for work. Now Im employed in an Accounts Practice and my duties include basic office jobs as well as basic accounts work, like carrying forward last years work and doing opening balances, analyses and summaries of control a/cs etc. because at Trainee Technician candidates often haven't had ANY experience in accounting, so just need to show enthusiasm! If you don't want to be an accountant but just want a qualification then it's going to be harder. I believe you can do the AAT course by yourself as home study, because if you don't get into the right company they probably won't give you the time off to go to college and sit exams and things, it will all have to be done in your own time and with your own money! I also know people who are in banking who are doing AAT, just as something extra. I think it all comes down to enthusiasm, if you want to learn it you'll do it anyway! Best look for a job in a company that offers work based training to the level you want.
Hope it helps
