New to AAT

Hey guys - new entrant here

I've a couple of what'll seem like really silly questions, but I really need the answers before I start throwing my money about :)

After I've registered with AAT and the company I want to complete my Distance Learning course with; how do I then choose the AAC I take my exams at?

How do I even enter for the exams - will AAT send me through forms on the basis that I am a member .. or will I need to contact certain people to register to sit an exam?

What is a 'deferment charge' - is this when you tell a company that you will sit an exam in June 06 for example, but then reschedule to take in Dec 06?

How many papers can you sit at once?

I'm very grateful for any replies and answers on this lovely saturday morning :)

Cheers

Paul

Hi how r u? Well for the exams you can register with AAT on line, once you have registered with your AAC, then AAT will automatically send you an exam entry form, and once you have filled out the form a few weeks before the exam you will be sent an exam docket. where you take your exams is up to your AAC, I am a distance learning student on the diploma pathway with FTC. I dont know what a deferment charge is, and you can sit more than one paper at more than one level at the same time.

I'm very well thank you Sanjay,

I am looking to start the Distance Learning course with FTC, like yourself - do you have a msn address I can add? .. rather than clutter up this board with a load of questions that everyone's heard before?

    I'd appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Hi Paul,

Hope you are well, just to say that if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask. There is nothing worse than studying on your own and not knowing something, this chat room is great for getting advise.

    Hey Kelly,

I'm going to fill out my AAT registration form now, and I was just wondering about a particular section.

The bit where it says "Please indicate the date of the first examination you intend to take - June 06 or December 06" - If I tick June 06 but for whatever reason cannot sit the exam in June, will I be charged for that - or is giving the indication to AAT for another reason?

And when your AAT membership comes up for renewal, do they contact you - like with car insurance - or do you have to proactively approach them again?

    Cheers

    Re:New to AAT

    Hi

The AAT only want to know an indication of when you expect to take an exam, so its not an issue if you change your mind.

They will send a letter when your student membership is due for renewal.

    Hi Paul

    Welcome to the forums :D

The deferment charge is as you correctly state. I am registered with FTC for my ACCA studies. They expect me to take my first exams in June . If however I do not want to sit my exams then I will have to pay £25 to change to the Dec 06 sitting.

Hope this helps and good luck with your studies. If you need help just post on here and someone will answer your questions.

    Regards
    Michelle

Ah thanks for the welcome and reply michelle.

Do FTC expect you to take certain exams in June or December, or do you tell them which ones you are planning on taking?

I'm sure all of this will become clearer to me once I'm registered and enrolled - at least I hope so!

    Thanks
