Re:peed off!!!
Unfortunately, exams alone are not enough for an employer to make a job offer when there are so many candidates with exams and experience.
Is there a local club that you could do the accounts for to get experience? Have you tried applying direct to schools (best place to get school hour work)? Perhaps a local PTA group need a treasurer? At least if you get some experience (even if it is unpaid) you can hope to get a chance of an interview.0 -
Re:peed off!!!
Have you thought about private bookkeeping from home? That way you employ yourself, work the hours that suit you and take on the work load that you can mangage (I assume you have children). Having just foundation might make that hard maybe when you get to intermediate and passed that you could consider self employment?0 -
Re:peed off!!!
I too can identify with the catch 22 situation of needing experience to get a job and also requiring school time hours (not to mention school holidays!)
I have just recieved exam results for technician level and unfortunately failed one so need to resit before I achieve NVQ4!
Even though i am so far through the course the lack of experience has made job hunting IMPOSSIBLE!!!

ps last year, for 2 days a week i worked UNPAID in an accounts department of a company owned by a friend of my father for 9 months to gain experience and as it is not classed as previous employement is still disregarded.

Re:peed off!!!
Oh my god - you must have been gutted!
Why was it dis-regarded?! I'm sure I've heard of people offering their services for free to i.e. a charity or local club in return of being able to get experience for their AAT!0 -
Re:peed off!!!
Hi,
I know exactly how your feeling, I started looking for a new job in March 2005 and it took me until July 2005 to get one. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel but sometimes it can take forever to get there.
But you will get there in the end.

Re:peed off!!!
I think the underlying factor is that most employers request 2 years full time or equivalent experience.
In my wisdom i hoped that the unpaid work experience would show my enthusiasm but so far still does not tick enough boxes!

Re:peed off!!!
Even factories have accounts departments or big chain stores like debenhams and woolworths etc. Have you written to as many of those as possible? Just a thought...0
