Taxtaion units any opinions?

Hi all,

Thanks for thking the time to read this post and hopefully comment. :D

I am going to be sitting the taxation papers in June and I wondered what they are like in comparison to other units, do many people fail?

Any tips on topics to ensure I know etc gratefully received!

    I only did the business taxation and I found this to be the easiest module at technician level.

    Hi

    I sat Personal Tax in December and passed first time. There's quite a lot of info to remember, tax rules etc but once you get them sorted, exam is pretty straightforward.

    I used FTC and Osborne Book together. Great for examples and practice questions.

    I took personal tax in June and found it easy. There is a lot of information to remember but with plenty of practice it gets easier.

    I found the exam straight forward also.

    I used Osbourne books and found them straight forward, easy to understand with good examples.

    I did the personal tax and it is nice and straightforward - factual. If you practise all the exams papers and lots of questions you will be fine.

    I did 3 options at technician, Cash management, business and personal tax and I would have said that the cash management was the easiest option, without a doubt. There is much less pressure in a devolved as a lot of the pressure came in June (by taking BTC, PTC and DFS together). However having said that I found the tax units the most useful and interesting so don't regret doing them at all. Also if you are going on to do ACA or ACCA then they are invaluable.

    Am going to be using the osbourn books and started personal taxation last night already enjoying it as it is figures and not theory!

    I am studying both business and personal taxation as home study and will be sitting the exams in June. I'm using BPP books which seem to be pretty straightforward.

    I'm enjoying it and I can relate it to work which is always useful.

    Hi

    I have just sat both PTC & BTC and passed both!!! :D
    They are quite easy to grasp but beware it can get confusing when doing them both together as they have the same taxes but different rules ie Taper Relief treated in different ways etc etc
    Oh and shares fun :shock:
