ISYS Cost Benefits :-)

Hoping a quick answer out there from one of my students that I wasn't sure about:

Doing a cost/benefit analysis up for a case study and having a nightmare trying to find costings for office 2013. Companies aren't offering this anyone and seems to be on sites like ebay now not the usual PC world - are these acceptable costs to use as coming in very cheap due to now being outdated. The newer office 2016 requires subscriptions and not easy to get cost prices...

Suggestions?!

    Hi
As Office 2013 is no longer available, why not look at Microsoft's website to obtain costings for the most current cloud based offering Office 365.

Cloud based software seems the way to go (Microsoft, Adobe, Quickbooks and Sage all have cloud based offerings now) so why not investigate it? Office 365 is being taken up by many organisations as it is easily scalable by adding users as necessity dictates. Office 365 include Skype for Business which could allow firms to video conference thus reducing travel to meetings.

You could argue that this would address sustainability issues as subscription to these systems ensure you always have the most up to date versions thus addressing the economic pillar of sustainability.

For costings, use the basic license cost published by Microsoft or contact a firm that offers IT solutions (CircleIT is one such firm).

    Hope this helps.

One thing to note with Cloud-based software is security. You would be opening yourself up to attack see :

This also brings about an ethical issue to be addressed - what can we do to ensure data we hold remains confidential?
