What's your middle name?!

Has anyone noticed how HMRC are now asking for confirmation of our client's full name, including any middles names, when we phone up?
I usually just glaze over the answer if I don't have that information to hand but I have just been made to dig out the permanent file to check!
I wonder if that is now a security procedure failure if we don't know!!

I've had this happen to me. I asked if the person at the other end of the phone was joking! They weren't and wouldn't let me proceed unless I gave them my client's middle name. I've now written this into my new client procedures! :glare:

Oh joy - another thing to do in February - perhaps I will do it when I go through my client list and check that I have got up to date IDs for them all....
