Hi,

I am 26 yo and have been doing a manual job since leaving uni 4 years ago. I graduated with a Masters in Chemistry (2:2 classification) and have recently been applying to graduate schemes (CIMA). I have had two interviews, but have been unsuccesful at both, it seems that I am not what they are looking for!!! So now I am looking for nother route into accountancy. I am now thinking of doing the AAT accounting qualification via distance learning, so that I can go back to the graduate schemes/local firms and show them that I am serious about accountancy as a career.

What are my options after doing the course and will completing it give me a better chance of getting the job? should I not bother witha graduate scheme and go to local smaller firms?
