VAT question
Need some help, as I am not (UK - EU) VAT expert...
We have received an order from a UK ltd company and we have delivered the goods direct from our factory in Poland to their jobsite in Slovakia. The company is claiming that we should not charge them VAT on our invoice even thought the order is from a UK company.
They want us to reissue the invoice showing the Slovakian VAT number on the invoice.
I thought that it is up to them to claim back VAT etc and it does not seem right to put on a foreign VAT number on a UK company account. Any comments?

Who is the party that is meant to be invoiced for the goods? If it is the UK company then yes VAT should be charged as normal on the invoice.0

Thank for help, Devilishbird. But, still, seems (a bit) unclear.
As I've already said, we, (Company A) received an order from an other UK ltd company (Company and we have delivered the goods direct from our factory in Poland (Daughter of our Company A) to their jobsite in Slovakia (daughter of their Company . The UK company (B) is claiming that we should not charge them VAT on our invoice even thought the purchase order was from a UK company.
According to them, since the goods have been delivered to Slovakia there should be no VAT charged, and they require their Slovakian VAT number has to be displayed on the new invoice.0 -
They are correct.
If the goods have not set foot in the UK then there is no UK supply.0 -
Thanks for help, but still unclear - should we put Slovakian VAT numer on our invoice (0 rate) or should we put UK Company B (the purchase order was from) VAT number (17,5 % rate)?

ValVas, this link may be helpful:-

As Dean says - no UK supply so VAT = 0%. Quote Slovakian VAT number on the invoice.0
