Getting Practice Experience

I'm currently studying Intermidiate, sitting my exams next month (EEK!), but work in quite a restricted area in business. Can you recommend the best way to get practice experience (even just bookeeping) whilst studying and holding down a full time job? Do practices outsource the bog standard double entry stuff, or should I contact local MIP's asking if I could do some work with/for them explaining my situation. All advise excepted.
