Taking exams and registration

Hi,

I have been told that you have to be registered with a learning centre to take the exams. So I cannot do as I wanted and study for the foundation of the diploma by myself.

However, could I register straight with someone like Kaplan onto the intermediate level and then just take the unit 30 exam then? I know that the 31 skills test can be done then.

And then could I take unit 30 and the intermediate in the same month? I am not in the country at the time of Dec 2008 exams so was hoping I could just take it along with intermediate exams next summer?
