Romans believed two spirits walk behind you, one on the left and one on the right. The one on the left was evil. The latin for left is sinister.

Salt was precious and symbolic of goodness and purity, spilling it was bad luck, thats why you throw it over your left shoulder in the face of the evil spirit.

You should never walk under a ladder as the ladder against a wall makes a triangular shape which is representative of the Holy Trinity and walking through it invites the devil.

Prior to widespread superstition in the middleages, cats were considered lucky as they kept down the rat and mice population. If someone killed a cat, they had to pay as compensation a pile of grain equal to the height of the cat held by the tail. This was how much grain the cat was perceived as having saved from spoiling.

Give a tennis ball a good, hard squeeze. You're using about the same amount of force your heart uses to pump blood out to the body. Even at rest, the muscles of the heart work hard—twice as hard as the leg muscles of a person sprinting.

    Wow not even the beatles?....

As I suspected The Beatles all wrote top ten hits in their solo careers, did all Queen members write theirs whilst in Queen?

Ringo didn't write one whilst a member of the beatles, although he had many album tracks. The four Queen members all wrote UK top ten singles for the band.

I hate to be an insufferable know it all, but a divorced orthodox Jewish woman, can marry a man with the surname of Cohen in two circumstances:

    1) If they are from the Cohen tribe alreeady.

    2) If there former husband grants them a Get. A Get is the Jewish term for when the former husband cuts the Katuba (wedding certificate) in half and presents it to their former wife.

Interestingly, if any Jewish woman (regardless of orthodoxy) gets divorced from her husband and then marries another Jewish man, without getting a Get from their previous husband, her children and her children's children (for 10 generations) will be Mamze (not considered Halahichly Kosher/Jewish) accordingly to reform, and upwards, Jewish law. However, in the Progressive Jewish movement this would not be the case.

I am a progressive Jew and we are by far the most lenient of the Jewish casts.

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

    Peanuts are used in dynamite.

The can opener was invented 45 years after the tin can.

Cockroaches were on earth before dinosaurs.

More people are killed by coconuts falling on their heads then sharks attacks and more people are killed by cows than coconuts every year.
8,800 people hurt themselves whilst using toothpicks every year.

In 1856, the Great Trigonometric Survey of India established the first published height of Everest at 29,002 ft (8,840 m) They actually measured it at exactly 29,000 feet but thought no one would believe this measurement so they added an extra 2 foot to make it look more authentic.

I was always told that condoms were first made from pig's bladders.

Condoms are still used to protect rifle barrels from sand, water etc. by soldiers. (told that by close family member who used to be a para)

The average chocolate bar has 8 insects' legs in it

The strongest muscle in the body is the TONGUE.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you
would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

Donald Duck comics were once banned in Finland because he doesn't wear trousers.

The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.
