you shouldnt have mentioned that....i happen to know that there are some huge fans of rick astley on here and they would tear your arm off for that collection0 -
People might knock Rick but at least most whose growing up music was in that decade can name him as one of the 'stars' of the latter decade unlike most of the 90's b*llocks where no-one really stood out from '94-95 onwards.0

my Nan sings better that rick astley blobbyh.....in fact most peoples Nan's do.......and thats why people knock him....it doesnt matter what era he is in....he is bad in any era0 -
Not saying he wasn't but it's easy to say who was in the 80's decade from start (Duran Duran, Spandau, Blondie etc) to middle (U2, Simple Minds, Aha) to end (Rick, Kylie, Jason etc) which isn't so easy to say for the 90's. Maybe it's cos my decade was the 80's but nobody seemed to define the 90's as much, especially the latter half IMO.0

Fair point, i am not a fan of 90's music anyway, but listening trends changed significantly during the 90's with (in my opinion) rubbish like Trance, Techno and Rave increasing in popularity and changing listner demands, engulfing the charts and swaying music preference which in turn dictated what types of music up and coming artists/ bands developed to capture a wider listening market.
I think this had an effect on what was popular and it took a few years for bands to start coming through again such as Stereophonics, Dashboard Confessionals etc...
Thats why I think you had no definning artists in the latter 90's...i might be wrong, its open to debate but thats my opinion. How else could the Cheeky Girls get to number one0 -
