Hi,
I recently set up a bookkeeping and accounting practice working from home. At the moment i am using excell spreadsheet to do bookkeeping as i only have a couple of clients. For the last a few weeks i have been getting more enquiry and i am looking for to buy an accounting software at a reasonable price to do bookkeeping, final accounts, payroll, self assesment and tax return. any advice will be appreciated.

To start I think there are two choices you need to overcome.

Price V Integration and ease of use

You will get many different opinions due to what people prefer.

Many start by using the following as they are cheap:

    Accounts - VT Accounts
    Bookkeeping/Cash book - VT cashbook
    Payroll - Moneysoft
Tax - Tax Calc / Drummorh / PTP

Some then move on to other more integrated systems such as Iris, Digita, Keytime, PTP.

These are more costly, particularly Iris but the ease of use and integration can save time.

I used VT Accounts and PTP in the early days.

I have used Iris, PTP, Keytime and Digita.

I fully reviewed this year my options going forward and I now use Digita. This may not be the choice of everyone but I personally like how it works and integrates and the good customer service.
    Regards,
