Hello illuminated ones,
I'm working on starting my own fashion and lifestyle business. I'm currently designing a website, got the stock and suppliers, but am battling with finding a name for the biz.
My favourite so far is -
Di mode amore
(In fashion/love)
Any ideas ? This is the only bit holding me back at the moment....
Cheers

I would use a well known name in the same field and play around with the name a bit.
Gok-swan for example (jst an idea)0 -

Then you would be breaking the law by suggesting your business is associated with (eg owned managed by) the celebrity in question. It's called "passing off", unless your business was actually associated with Gok Wan (or whatever his name actually is).
A pun based around the business activity could be a good choice though. What exactly are you doing?0 -

Mmmm...but they would have to prove that you are advertising the business through a well known name, are you telling me that if you named a business Gook-Swan that Gok would have enough evidence to sue your butt??
I understand fully what your saying but i think to break the law you would actually need to be using the full title such as Gok Wan. I am not 100% on that though, would be interesting to hear more views on it??0 -

Maybe, maybe not. It's certainly an area I'd steer clear of.
EDIT: Especially as you'd actually be trying to capitalise on the well-known name, even if you can slip it through the letter of the law.0 -

Well there you go then.....idea aborted!!! or at least be a lot smarter with your creativity when not really trying to enhance your business by utilising creativity and innovation in absolutely not using a well known brand name lol0 -

I thought it was grey for accountants???
I had a job interview on Wednesday, and wore a black pinstripe suit as I felt it looked the most accountanty of my suits. Of the three-person interview panel, the two accounting personnal (finance director and my would-be line manager) were also in black pinstripe suits. The HR person was in a brown suit, in case anyone wondered. Actually, I also own that exact suit (the pinstripes are quite distinctive), but didn't wear it because I didn't think it looked accountsy enough for an interview.
ps- my most-worn suit is actually a grey one.0 -
