VAT Reclamation
I was just wondering if VAT is posted to a suspense VAT account (awaiting a VAT receipt before a journal being done to debit the normal VAT account) should the journal posting be dated the date of the original posting to the suspense account, the date of the VAT invoice or can it just be the date you are posting it i.e Today's date?

We use the VAT date, which is usually the date of the invoice, unless it's in the previous period and the previous period has already been closed, in which case we pick the first of the month and make sure that it states it relates to the previous period.0
