Tax relief on expenses?
I am wondering if it's possible to claim tax relief on out of pocket expenses when volunteering? All the guidance I can find relates to expenses being reimbursed by the charity. We have a breeding dog for the Guide Dogs for the blind. Basically she lives with us but we're expected to take her to the centre at least 3 times a year. It's a 100 mile round trip each time and we don't claim the expense. I'd like to know if we can claim tax relief on the cost of the fuel/mileage?

I don't think so, as its not technically a business expense.
A lot of places do pay expenses, which I think is fair if you're giving your time for free.0
