A few years ago I taught a student who had risen through the ranks and pay in the horticulture and nursery industry. No significant accounting background but an enthusiasm and intentions to enter the profession.
She had studied and passed her AAT, but other students with less worldly experience but who had worked their ways through purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconcilliation statements were finding themselves far more appealing to prospective employers.
The truth of the matter is that AAT qualified applicants struggle to compete for jobs when there are candidates who have a track record as well as the qualification.
In the case of my student, she was able to use her horticultural knowledge to move into accounts. Even if you don't have specific accounting knowledge, if you understand the business and you understand so much about accounts that you passed the AAT exams you have something which is worth employing within the industry.

My advice is to look at finance/accounting work where your specific hospitality knowledge can be used alongside your accountancy.Sandy
