Hi

I'm helping my fiance fill in a tax return for her little business.

There is a section there for number of employments.

For part of the year in question she temped for a company, and was then taken on permantly by that company.

Does this count as 2 employments given that while she was temping the agency paid her wages, and then when she was permanent, the company itself paid her wages?

Thanks

I expect so: she will have a P45 from the Agency and a P60 from the company itself. They should be 2 separate employers.

    Hi

Yes there is a P60 from the company. I don't think I have got a P45 from the agency though.

I've got a P45 from the 1st employment they had in this tax year.
I presume I can figure out how much income/tax is from the agency by deducting the P45 figure from the 1st employment from the total previous employments figure on the P60.

Either that or manually add up the pay slips!

The P45 should have been used by the company, and the amounts on it should be shown on the P60 under "in previous employments". If so, you may be ok using the total figure on the P60.

You can phone HMRC to get them to send the amounts through, or ask the agency for a copy P45.
