HMRC extend self-assessment deadline

For anyone who is still submitting tax returns (like me!) HMRC have issued a press release saying that they will not be issuing penalties for any tax returns submitted on 1 or 2 Feb, because the helpline staff are planning to strike on Tuesday 31 January.

Hope this helps some of you....

They do this every year and it winds me up. What the point of setting a deadline if you keep moving it?

I will be finished for 31st Jan as that is the deadline!!!

And me, but it's nice to know there's a bit of breathing room if needed...

I wonder if we'd be granted the same extension of time if "we" went on strike too ... No? Didn't think so. Hello Monsoon - I always like following your posts.
