Does it matter where my AAT distance learning training provider is located?

No. Although the bigger AAT distance learning training providers also deliver classroom courses at centres around the country, some providers will only have one centre in one location. As it’s a distance learning course this doesn’t matter – all your tuition and materials will be provided by correspondence or online.

However, you will need to go to an assessment centre as an external candidate when you’re ready to sit your exams. (Some larger distance learning training providers may have a centre near you, in which case you just need to speak to them and book to go in for an assessment at that centre.)

The good thing is, you can do this any time of the year – you just need to find your
nearest assessment centre. Here's a list of approved AAT assessment centres which you can download (PDF).

Please note that assessment centres charge a fee for you to sit your AAT assessments as an external candidate, and some may also charge administration fees. Contact assessment centres directly to learn more about their fees.
