Does completing an AAT apprenticeship grant me exemptions for chartered accountancy?

Yes. Once you’ve completed the final level of the AAT Accounting Qualification you’ll be able to progress onto certified chartered accountancy qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA and ICAEW. Although the exemptions vary from body to body, generally speaking completing AAT means being fast-tracked onto the second year of a chartered accountancy qualification.
It’s a good idea speak to your employer about this. Many actively encourage progression onto chartered qualifications and will continue to fund your studies. Not only this, but you’ll also get a 50% discount on your AAT full membership fees while you study for chartered status.
