Old books still valid - AQ 2013?

Hi all, hope someone can help. I finished Level 2 some time ago via distance learning and had decided to do Level 3 without a study provider so just buying books myself. I haven't studied in around a year and didn't take any Level 3 exams so I understand it's best for me to just start on the new modules rather than follow the old program. I just wanted to know if I now need to buy the new format books or if the content in the old books will suffice? I think I had accounts prep 1 & 2 - would need to dig them out - but from what I can see a lot of new books were issued by various providers last year and not sure if I should just bin what I have and start again? Any advice appreciated!
